Competitive sports
Last weekend, the German University Swimming Championships took place in Schwäbisch Gmünd. The Bochum team won 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.
The RUB team travelled to the German University Championships in Baden-Württemberg with a total of 27 swimmers. After no DHM in swimming took place in the last 3 years, the Bochum team was incredibly successful this year with a total of 17 podium finishes. Numerous top placements were collected in both the individual and relay competitions.
The individual performances of Charlotte Wendel, Michelle Pschuk and Niklas Mondroch deserve special mention. Wendel won gold in the 50m butterfly, silver in the 200m medley and silver in the 50m freestyle. Pschuk won gold in the 100m breaststroke and silver in the 50m breaststroke, as did Mondroch with silver in the 200m butterfly and silver in the 400m medley. Furthermore, there were numerous other podium and top-8 placements in the individual competitions.
In the relay competitions, too, the RUB was mostly in the lead. Particularly noteworthy are the victories in the 6x50m backstroke mixed, 6x50m breaststroke mixed, 6x50m butterfly mixed and in the "supreme discipline" 8x50m medley mixed.
