DHM 3x3 Basketball - 19 teams as guests in Bochum
Exciting games and high spirits at the DHM 3x3 basketball tournament. Even the weather couldn't put a spanner in the works.
On June 15 and 16, 2024, the German University Championship (DHM) in 3x3 basketball took place in Bochum. The event at the Urban Green facility provided a great backdrop for exciting competitions. Despite the excellent location, the tournament was challenging due to the changeable weather conditions. The rain made one of the two courts unplayable, which meant that the tournament had to be played mainly on one court. This led to delays in the schedule, meaning that all placement matches had to be canceled and ultimately only the final could be played. However, this did not dampen the atmosphere. Both the players and spectators created a great atmosphere right up to the last game.
The sporting action was all the hotter for it. There were strong teams in both the women's and men's competitions. In the men's competition, the University of Tübingen 1 reached the final after a thrilling quarter-final victory against the University of Würzburg in overtime and a narrow semi-final victory against the University of Göttingen. In the other semi-final, the team from the University of Marburg 1 faced the University of Duisburg Essen. After Duisburg Essen had won against Marburg the day before, Marburg prevailed this time in the decisive game.
In the thrilling final, the University of Marburg 1 and the University of Tübingen 1 faced each other for the first time. The spectators were treated to a balanced and exciting game. The deserved winner of the game and thus German university champion in 3x3 basketball is the team from the University of Marburg - congratulations!
In the women's competition, the University of Göttingen emerged as the favorite early on and advanced to the final without defeat. In the semi-finals, the University of Tübingen 1 and the University of Marburg 2 met again. After Tübingen had narrowly won in overtime in the group stage, everything was wide open again in the semi-final. Despite a strong performance from Marburg, Tübingen managed to prevail with a 3-point lead.
The women's final was a last dance between the University of Göttingen and the University of Tübingen. Despite a tough fight by the Tübingen team, Göttingen was able to confirm their role as favorites and emerged undefeated as the German university champions in 3x3 basketball - congratulations!
