Competitive Sport
The rowing teams from Ruhr University Bochum achieved outstanding results at the German University Rowing Championships in Krefeld on Lake Elfrath (July 10–12). The RUB teams put in strong performances and took first and second place in two events.
In the “Men’s Coxless Pair” event, David Kalle and Collin Liebe claimed the title of German University Champions. After a mixed start, the duo managed to make up for their brief deficit against the competition and secured victory in the home stretch against TU Dortmund, whose team included training partners from the Dortmund Olympic Training Center.
The team was also successful in the “Men’s Coxless Four” event, alongside Sebastian Hopf and Simon Haible. Here, they secured an outstanding second-place finish. David Kalle expressed great satisfaction with this result:
“Most of the competition consisted of well-established four-man combinations. Due to other athletic commitments, we hadn’t been able to train with the four in this lineup beforehand. So for us, this was the first time we took to the water together as a team when we pushed off from the dock. That’s why I’m very satisfied with the runner-up title here.”
The successes of the RUB rowing teams underscore their outstanding athletic performance.
We warmly congratulate the teams on their excellent finishes!
