Competitive sport
On March 28, the first edition of the 3x3 RUB Championships took place at the Jahrhunderthalle. After the 3x3 competitions during last year’s FISU World University Games had already generated great excitement and a thrilling atmosphere, this year’s 3x3 Super Week carried on this special vibe and offered numerous impressive moments both on and off the court.
A total of 15 teams competed in the RUB Championships, engaging in numerous intense matches and thrilling showdowns for the title. With great dedication, team spirit, and skill, the teams battled their way through the preliminary rounds and finals. In the end, the team “4 Freunde” prevailed in a hard-fought final (21:20) and secured the tournament victory. Congratulations on this outstanding performance!
In addition to the tournament, the wheelchair basketball tryout session also attracted a lot of interest from visitors. The session was organized by the University Sports Bochum, Deutsche Telekom, and the Köln 99ers, and offered many participants the opportunity to try out this inclusive sport for themselves and gain new experiences.
The first edition of the 3x3 RUB Championships clearly demonstrated just how much enthusiasm there is for 3x3 basketball and how well competitive sports and inclusive participatory activities can be combined.
