11 podium finishes and 2x German university champion - a record to be proud of!
This year's German University Swimming Championships took place in Munich from November 22 to 25. The RUB team traveled with a total of 8 swimmers.
The team competed in a total of 4 relays (6x50m breaststroke mixed (1st place), 6x50m freestyle mixed (3rd place), 4x100m medley female (3rd place) & 4x100m freestyle female (3rd place)) and was able to secure a place on the podium in all races. Henrik Schäfer, Benjamin Atmar, Niklas Mondroch, Lara Pillokat, Charlotte Wendel & Nikola Schubert can call themselves German university champions with their victory - congratulations!
The individual races were similarly successful. Nikola Schubert (200m breaststroke female), Lara Pillokat (50m breaststroke female) & Niklas Mondroch (100m butterfly male) only just missed out on a place on the podium in the finals.
Benjamin Atmar (50m freestyle male), Nikola Schubert (100m breaststroke female) & Niklas Mondroch (50m butterfly male) each took 3rd place.
Niklas Mondroch secured a 2nd place (200m medley male). Charlotte Wendel took 2nd place twice (50m butterfly female & 200m medley female).
Finally, Charlotte Wendel won the final over 100m freestyle, securing 1st place and thus achieving the second best performance in the entire competition in terms of points (661).
With a total of 11 top placings and 2 titles, everyone made it onto the podium. The team can therefore look back on the weekend with pride. The university sports team would like to congratulate them on their great success.
