World University Games
On 28 July 2023, the FISU World University Games will start in Chengdu/China. Shortly before departure, one of the rowers met with the rector and the head of university sports.
Two students from the Ruhr-Universität are part of the German national team at the world's second largest multi-sport event. Rowers Tom Tewes, a physics student, and Henry Hopman, a psychology student, will be in the eight and hopefully rowing for medals. Shortly before leaving to China, Henry Hopman and Ines Lenze, head of university sports and deputy head of delegation for the German team in Chengdu, met with Rector Prof. Dr. Martin Paul for an exchange about the compatibility of studying and top-level sport, which the Ruhr-Universität supports very much as a "partner university of top-class sport". The Rector also presented a congratulatory letter and a mascot.
