Participants of the running club achieve good results
At the beginning of April the starting signal was given for this year's marathon in Paris and four RUB university athletes took part. Merle Taube, Edgar Espino, Stanislav Katanneck and Benedikt Lammersmann wanted to enjoy the atmosphere and architecture of the French capital while running. The circuit took them from the Champs-Elysees to the Place de la Concorde, past the Louvre, Notre-Dame and Eiffel Tower, to the finish at the Arc de Triomphe. All four runners were pleased with their performances, which were even below their planned target times. Particularly impressive was Merle Taube's time of 3:33:35 hrs, the fastest of the four.
A week earlier, seven other participants of the running meet-up courses tried their hand at the half marathon in Venlo, the Netherlands. Despite strong wind and rain on the first half of the course, all RUB starters were able to reach their target times. Julius Feldmann and Felix Graeve achieved particularly strong times with 1:23:30 hrs and 1:24:55 hrs respectively.
The RUB runners prepared successfully together with other runners, who already participated in the long distances in Duisburg, Freiburg and Berlin, within the framework of the running club offers of the RUB university sports. For the marathon season in the fall, University Sports is again offering new marathon and half-marathon courses, which will take place from mid-April until the start of the road running season in October.
