Save the date: Flame Relay on 08.05.2025!
The official torch of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games is coming to the campus of Ruhr-Universität Bochum and will give the first starting signal for the student Olympics here in the Ruhr region. Everyone is welcome to join the event.
It will be a spectacular torch run with a top-class relay team carrying the torch across the campus. A total of 15 runners, who have left their mark on the Ruhr-Universität and sport in a special way, will carry the torch across the campus on May 8, 2025.
The 15 torchbearers are
- Sonja Greinacher, Olympic champion 2024 in 3x3 basketball, Rhine-Ruhr ambassador and RUB alumnus
- Jan Fitschen, former professional athlete, 2003 Universiade winner and RUB alumnus
- Elmar Weiler, former rector of the Ruhr-Universität and volunteer at the World University Games
- Isabell Thal, para-judoka at the Paralympics 2024 and RUB student
- Linn Kleine, professional athlete and RUB student
- Lisa Clemens, judge at the World University Games and RUB student
- Simon Reinke, swimmer and member of the perspective squad for the World University Games and RUB student
The torch relay will start at 4 p.m. at the bridge to the "Brücke".m. at the bridge to the stop "Ruhr-Universität Bochum" and will cross the university campus. The torch will be ceremonially received by the Rectorate at the Rote Bete. The exact route of the torch relay will be published on 05.05.2025.
