Competitive sports
Last Thursday (Ascension Day), the German University Championships track and field took place in the Bürgerpark-Nord in Darmstadt. This year, the DHM was considered a qualifying competition for the World University Games in the summer.
The RUB was represented on the day of the competition by 12 participants in various individual disciplines and a women's 100m relay. There were 3 podium finishes for the athletes of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
Philipp Trutenat stormed to third place in the 100m in 10.62 sec. Lea Laux and Constantin Rutsch also took third place in the pole vault. Although they were not satisfied with their personal performances, they were all the more pleased with their placings.
Madleen Malecki, competing in the University Championships for the first time, ran to fifth place in the A final of the women's 100m. Jonas Wolf, who competed in both the pole vault and the 100 m, ran a new personal best and reached the B final. Marie Schöbel also ran into the final in the 100m in a large field of competitors. Marcel Reisch also finished in the top 8 in the men's discus throw.
A small highlight was the women's 4x100 m relay. They finished in a good 4th place, which none of the athletes would have expected beforehand.
